When Christine told me that she wanted her engagement pictures in the same location as her wedding I was super stoked because that meant we were going to be in Lake Tahoe twice!! And if you know me, any excuse I can get to hop on a plane and play in the snow I am totally game for. We spent the weekend exploring Tahoe one day and Grass Valley the next, and I came home feeling SO inspired from the change of scenery. Ryan had just got off a plane from Hong Kong for a business trip before I landed, and I was blown away by how well he did while jet lagged. When I came back from Papua New Guinea last year I think it took me a full week to recover, and trust me when I say you don’t want to be around me when I’m that tired. Ryan had to be ready for our engagement session by the next day. And he was NICE. Holy dang!
Christine is a dear friend that I met in my first summer at Hume Lake which was in 2004, before I had ever picked up a real camera. It is just crazy how much things change in a couple of years… back in those days I was a Business Finance major at Cal Poly SLO [best school ever, just sayin'] and if you were to have told me that I’d be shooting her wedding 6 years later I would have told you that you’re A CRAZY. Here we are, it’s 2010 and I’m almost 4 years in my studio… but we’re just getting started folks and I’m super excited for what is in store
and now…. the FAVORITES!

This last one is the same spot they will be getting married at this summer in Squaw Valley and its going to be AMAZING. It’s so beautiful up there, it just takes my breath away. Thank you Ryan and Christine, can’t wait to see you guys again soon!
P.S. stay tuned… there is more to come from the Grass Valley shoot…
A favorite toy of mine which will probably classify itself as one of my best birthday presents EVER was this Fugi Instant Camera…

Ohhhhh I just luuuuuuuv it. The prints are the size of a credit card and I could snap shots all day long, but film sure aint free so it provokes a different way of shooting which is great for staying inspired. And I like that they aren’t squares
I’ve been making little messages with it to put around my new house just for fun. Just write out something that inspires you and the less words the better, put it on a fun piece of fabric and then snap away. This one is my favorite…

Happy Monday.
One of my goals for last year was to get published and I’m so excited to share that the wonderful wedding of Kyle and Jenay [see my post of their wedding here and here] was chosen for Ceremony Magazine’s 2010 LA edition! It was such an incredible wedding to have had a part to play in and this was just the icing on the cake. You can see the flip book version of the publication at ceremonymagazine.com. Check out the spreads!

Soooo sweeeet!! It’s a happy day. Now I’m super stoked to tackle more of my goals for this year and see them realized too
I think 2010 is going to be a good year!
I just got home from an amazing day with Kenna and Gray at the Sherman Gardens and Library in Corona Del Mar… everything was absolutely gorgeous, but most of all I have been so excited about the images that we got today that I couldn’t wait to post them! Here are my favorites for now, there will definitely be more to come…
One of their favorite spots in the gardens was in the koi pond greenhouse, and my oh my do they have good taste. The light was AMAZING!!!

Some yummy sun flair light that I couldn’t resist…

I can’t wait to share more! Until then… goodnight.
The Donaldson family took a vacation up in Lake Arrowhead last weekend and what a perfect setting for a family photo sesh…
So… don’t mind if I do!!
Enjoy!

I can’t believe Owen is 9 months old already… the last time my camera saw him was when he was 2 days old at the hospital, and Faith was (and still is) the proud older sis:

Time flies way too fast!
I have been so excited to share about this wedding… my dear friend April who I have spent summers at Hume Lake with, got married at the Grand Island Mansion in Sacramento and it was such a blessed day! I have never seen such joy on April’s face… it just radiated through her the entire day and I couldn’t be more happy that she found the love of her life in Steve! They just compliment each other so well, and made my job SO easy
My favorite images of the day so far! :

Can I just say I LOVED her shoes?!? So cute!

This was the part of the day when I think April realized it was all coming together…

The fancy shmancy mansion was SO amazing!

April Joy getting her shoes put on by her sister Mara, the Matron of Honor…

The beautiful bride

The First Look!!
