Guess where I was on Tuesday? … The San Diego Court House!!

If there is anyone who says you can’t get married in 7 days then these two just proved you wrong. That’s right, I just said SEVEN. Days. Love it!

That was one of our favorites from the day, I’ll have more to share in a later post!

A couple weeks ago we had some rain, a thick marine layer for days, and all I was aching for was some gorgeous blue sky and golden sunlight… which is really funny because I LOVE rain and usually find it such a treat. But I knew exactly what I wanted and when it came time for this shoot we got SO SO lucky! That morning it was grey skies and the like, but by the time we headed down that evening it all burned off and we were blessed with everything I could have hoped for… all the blue sky and perfectly golden light I could want. As if that wasn’t enough of a blessing in itself, Mary and Andrew pretty much knocked it out of the park in front of my camera.

They are hilarious together by the way, always laughing and joking around… they are a joy to hang out with.

I think that last one might be my favorite. She’s in love. He let’s her shine. And that is just the most beautiful thing to see.

Ryan and Christine ~ Lake Tahoe

When Christine told me that she wanted her engagement pictures in the same location as her wedding I was super stoked because that meant we were going to be in Lake Tahoe twice!! And if you know me, any excuse I can get to hop on a plane and play in the snow I am totally game for. We spent the weekend exploring Tahoe one day and Grass Valley the next, and I came home feeling SO inspired from the change of scenery. Ryan had just got off a plane from Hong Kong for a business trip before I landed, and I was blown away by how well he did while jet lagged. When I came back from Papua New Guinea last year I think it took me a full week to recover, and trust me when I say you don’t want to be around me when I’m that tired. Ryan had to be ready for our engagement session by the next day. And he was NICE. Holy dang!

Christine is a dear friend that I met in my first summer at Hume Lake which was in 2004, before I had ever picked up a real camera. It is just crazy how much things change in a couple of years… back in those days I was a Business Finance major at Cal Poly SLO [best school ever, just sayin'] and if you were to have told me that I’d be shooting her wedding 6 years later I would have told you that you’re A CRAZY. Here we are, it’s 2010 and I’m almost 4 years in my studio… but we’re just getting started folks and I’m super excited for what is in store

and now…. the FAVORITES!

This last one is the same spot they will be getting married at this summer in Squaw Valley and its going to be AMAZING. It’s so beautiful up there, it just takes my breath away. Thank you Ryan and Christine, can’t wait to see you guys again soon!

Kelli and Darwin ~ Engaged

Winter (or Southern California’s version of it…) is definitely over! It’s been so warm and this weekend was no exception… I was a bit worried that the engagement session I had scheduled with Kelli and Darwin would leave us all melting but thankfully that wasn’t the case! I was so excited to hang out with Kelli and Darwin a bit more, and they even gave me complete freedom to choose whatever location I felt inspired to shoot in. The only request was to include some breathtaking scenery So, after searching high and low for the perfect place I finally found it… but I’m going to keep it a secret! It’s one of those places that feels very similar to the last shoot with Kenna and Gray; beautiful light, untouched nature, and is just one of those places that you can breathe a little deeper in. Kelli and Darwin were incredible troopers, hiking all over the place with me even when it came time for Kelli to wear her black heels! They were just such a joy to work with and I am counting down the days for their wedding in La Jolla. Here are some of my favorites!

Gray and Kenna~ Part 2

Here is round TWO of Kenna and Gray! We had too much fun at our last shoot, and figured hey why not do this again? So we did! We headed over to Black Star Canyon for some sweeping canyon views and they switched up the wardrobe a bit… and hello classy! It was a blast and I would shoot with them every week if they would let me. Here are some favorites!

Gray and Kenna~ Part 1

It’s been awhile since I’ve been shooting consistently and to get back into the swing of things with these two could not have been any more fun or inspiring! Gray is an avid mountain biker and both he and Kenna love being outdoors almost as much as they enjoy each other… which is a lot. Not in a like-each-other-so-much-you-can’t-stomach-it but just the opposite… in the you-know-you’re-going-to-have-fun-and-be-inspired kind of way. Their fun together is infectious. They are both really passionate about nature, and volunteer for taking care of the birds at Rancho Las Lomas which I just think is the coolest thing… that means they get to help out with the bird releases and to hear Kenna talk about it, I could tell it was one of those things that just grabs your heart and and never lets go once you experience it. For their engagement shoot they chose the locations and they were a breath of fresh air… literally. Orange County has so much beauty in its open spaces, some precious untouched nooks and crannies that provide the most amazing escape from that darn traffic and busy-ness!

They brought their vintage bike, and I thought it was the perfect backdrop for a little ring action…

Kenna is a super talented hair stylist so if you are needing one, she is the girl you want to go to! I know I’m going in to see her soon, my hair is in dire need of a hair cut

This isn’t the last you’ll see of them, we have another shoot coming up here shortly that I’ll post soon and you won’t want to miss it!
