Ohhhhh I just luuuuuuuv it. The prints are the size of a credit card and I could snap shots all day long, but film sure aint free so it provokes a different way of shooting which is great for staying inspired. And I like that they aren’t squares

I’ve been making little messages with it to put around my new house just for fun. Just write out something that inspires you and the less words the better, put it on a fun piece of fabric and then snap away. This one is my favorite…

This week I attended my good friend Dane Sanders‘ Fast Track Roadshow Workshop in San Diego… hosted by the very gracious Garrett of Garrett Photography. We had a WONDERFUL time and I can’t recommend the workshop enough to any other photographers out there… I’ve gone to my fair share of workshops in the last couple years (R&D is a very worthy investment in any business) and I just wish so much that this was available when I was first starting out. However, if this is something you might consider jumping into, no matter where you are at in your business Dane will engage you and push you in ways you’ll thank him for later. I’m just so proud of this Fast Track movement and I feel so excited to be a part of it… Fast Track is inspiring photographers to really dig in deep to who they are and work out of that… and the workshop gives a ridiculous amount of tools to help get the job done. My favorite part? The community. Freaking amazing.

Part of our time together included some shooting which was so much fun… and I loved it when Dane gave me a challenge: Using a location chosen for me, with only 2.5 minutes and ONE frame, set up our models in a shot with emphasis on composition. BRING IT! Here is what came out…

Holy Dang. The next workshop is in Chicago! Take a look HERE for the dates and to signup.

[*Disclaimer: No, I don't get commission for saying any of this, I just really believe in Dane and Fast Track and I know that anyone who gets to benefit from this will be better off because of it. It's been huge for me and I want the same for other photographers in our industry. "A rising tide lifts all boats!"]

On another note, this morning I went surfing with the fabulous Amy Hinden and we almost collided with some dolphins! It was one of those moments where I was freaked out and completely in awe at the same moment. Imagine a wave about to crash on you but you can’t dive under it because there are 2 dolphins surfing just inches in front of you… oh man. Absolutely incredible. It reminded me of how I feel in my business… it’s a new wave this year and I’m excited for what’s to come.

Have a great day!

Me! We’re going to miss Dane while he is hosting a Fast Track Workshop in Houston, but I’m looking forward to talking with Jen and hopefully helping anyone else who is trying to move forward in their photography business. Jen and I always have the most amazing conversations as we’ve worked together to hash out the concepts of being a Fast Track Photographer… of figuring out who we are, how that applies to our business, where we see ourselves going, and everything in between. We would love for you to join in today at 4pm… here is the info from Dane…

Welcome, welcome!! I am so excited to launch this new blog and mark a new chapter in my business and life! The first couple years of my business were absolutely amazing and I’ve been incredibly blessed by its quick growth. It happened so quickly though that I needed a couple months to decompress a bit… and as you could probably tell from my blog hiatus I took a chunk of time off after my Papua New Guinea trip last November. What a gift that was!

Here is a fun little exercise someone shared with me… if you were to take a second and write down the five most important people in your life, who would you write down? Do you have the list figured out? I’m really serious! If so, take a look over it. Is your own name on the list? If you did the same thing as me, then the thought didn’t even cross your mind. But, think about it… if our own cup is running empty then how much are we able to give of ourselves to the people that matter the most to us? So, go back over the list and put your own name at the top. Weird, huh? Strange but extremely empowering. Taking that time off was the best thing I ever could have done for myself and for my art. I can’t recommend it enough.

So, I’m back in the blogging world and ready to go with a new joy and fresh perspective. I figured that having a new blog was just the perfect way to signify a new beginning… and it’s just fun! I hope you enjoy it and let me know your thoughts, your comments, anything you want to share. And then give yourself a little time off… go make a cup of tea, grab a book, read my blog (haha!), or do nothing at all… and enJOY!
